Rev. Father Fred Pfeil
August 2004 to Present
Fr. Fred Pfeil was ordained priest in November 2003 at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church in Hunt Valley, Maryland, by Bishop ANTOUN, and was assigned to St. Michael as parish priest in August, 2004. Earlier, he was ordained deacon at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in March 2003.
A May 2004 graduate of St. Tikhon Russian Orthodox Seminary, Fr. Fred is a contributing writer for the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese. He is married to Kathy Bauer Pfeil and has two adult children: Kirstin Pfeil Pantazis and Ian Pfeil, and two grandchildren: Kira and Alexander Pantazis.
Prior to attending seminary, Fr. Fred served 25 years in the United States Navy, where his duties were at various organizations in Washington, D.C., Monterey, California, Omaha, Nebraska, overseas in Guam (where his daughter, Kirstin, was born), and at sea. Fr. Fred received numerous military decorations for his outstanding performance and dedication while in the Navy. In addition, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded him the prestigious Defense Meritorious Service Medal (DMSM). He achieved the rank of Commander and specialized in oceanography.
Commander Fred Pfeil retired from the Navy in 2001, and immediately entered his second call to duty — priesthood.
