About Fr. Fred

Our Parish

Welcome to St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church. St. Michael is an historic parish in the city of Monessen, PA.  Founded in 1914 by St. Raphael, bishop of Brooklyn, we are a small (85 members) parish of families with an active choir, Sunday School, altar server program and Ladies' Society.

Located about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA, Monessen was once a thriving steel mill and coal mining town. The town is in the process of re-imaging itself as a family-oriented area within easy commuting distance of downtown Pittsburgh, and along with the existing neighborhoods, has new home plans being built just outside the city limits. The demographics of the parish family show a wide spread of ages, and many cultural heritages represented.

We worship God as He has revealed Himself to us: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We welcome all visitors to worship with us at any service, and especially Sunday Divine Liturgy. It is here that we experience the Triune God become human, Jesus Christ, in

our midst, and we enter eternity in a mystical yet real way. We are the ancient Church of the twelve Apostles.

If you are in town visiting or need a church home,by all means stop by and join one of our services. Our parish is located 30 miles south

of Pittsburgh on the Monongahela River, Exit 41 on Interstate 70. Please be sure to fill out one of our Guest cards!

We encourage you to worship our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ with us!

In Christ,

Rev. Father Fred Pfeil  +
